If you bother to climb up the hill outside Potsdam you can get an eye full of one of world's best examples of expressionist architecture - the wacky Einstein Tower. It is an astrophysical observatory in the Albert Einstein Science Park, which is a research and learning facility, and was designed by Erich Mendelsohn. I have never seen anything like this before, and I have never sought out a building on a geeky architecture pilgrimage before, so two firsts today. Expressionism in architecture was spurred on by the art movement in the same period.
